“THE CAMERA INTRODUCES US TO UNCONSCIOUS OPTICS AS PSYCHOANALYSIS TO UNCONSCIOUS IMPULSES.”
— WALTER BENJAMIN, THE WORK OF ART IN THE AGE OF MECHANICAL REPRODUCTION, 1935

Filmed at an industrial excavation site overtaken by catastrophic floods, the work contemplates a landscape that has lost its original function. Not a lake, no longer an industrial site either — a territory suspended between states.
Unfolding in a single, unbroken shot, the image lingers between the man-made and the natural.
As the zoom — the gesture that promises proximity and knowledge — approaches its limit, the authority of mechanical vision begins to falter, revealing the limits of knowing.
The work unfolds at a subtle boundary between the collapse of the optical system and the viewer’s gaze, where perception turns inward.
